I am originally from Southern California and graduated from University of the Pacific in Stockton, California. I completed my dental training in San Francisco at the University of the Pacific, School of Dentistry, followed by a residency program in Advanced Education in General Dentistry at the University of California, San Francisco. I have completed my advanced training in hospital dentistry, Endodontics, Prosthedontics, Implantology, Oral Surgery, Oral Pathology, and Temporomandibular Disorder.
I am passionate about dental health and enjoy practicing dentistry. My oral health care philosophy includes treating whole patients, not just oral disease. This approach allows me to provide a health-focused dental practice and achieve balance by promoting stability and harmony in all aspects of life: physical, social, emotional, spiritual, and intellectual.
I am active in continuing educational programs, as well as giving back to the community by volunteer work. I enjoy snowboarding, camping, traveling, and cooking.
Thank you for visiting our website, and it would be a privilage to serve you.

I am a San Francisco native and I love living and working in the beautiful northern Bay Area. I completed my undergraduate degree in biology at UCLA, followed by my dental training at University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco. Before joining Dr. Chan, I practiced for five years in the Napa Valley in a family dental practice. Besides practicing in Petaluma, I am also a faculty member at the Pacific Dental School as a clinical instructor.
When I am not practicing dentistry, I enjoy spending time outdoors. My hobbies include SCUBA diving, abalone diving, skiing, hiking and mountain biking.

Dr. Chan's & Dr. Tyler's Virtually Painless Injections:
Most of our patients never know they have received an injection. That's because of Dr. Chan's virtually "Painless Injection" technique. A topical anesthetic is applied to the tissue with a swab. This anesthetic painlessly numbs the spot where the doctor will give you one of the most gentle injections.

Local Anesthetic for Pain Free Care:
Injectable anesthetics, such as Novacaine, prevent pain in a specific area of your mouth during treatment by blocking the nerves that sense or transmit pain and numbing mouth tissues. They cause the temporary numbness often referred to as a "fat lip" feeling. Injectable anesthetics may be used in such procedures as filling cavities, preparing teeth for crowns, or treating gum disease.

Post Treatment Comfort:
We want you to be as comfortable as possible after your care. We often send our patients home with a supply of non-narcotic analgesics to relieve any post treatment discomfort. These include aspirin, acetaminophen, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as Ibuprofen. For more involved procedures, a narcotic analgesic may be prescribed for your comfort.
